HELLO MY NAME IS RICHARD EVERROAD AND THIS IS MY ULTRALIGHT WEB PAGE.

I Fly out of Shawnee Field , Bloomfield, IN

I enjoy flying ultralight aircraft and want to help promote the "bird" in us all.

I started out flying an Eipper made by Quicksilver. The Eipper is a Weight shift ultralight, which is controlled like a Hang Glider. A Yamaha 100cc engine that puts out 15 HP in a pusher configuration propelled it. This aircraft was designed around the average pilot, who is supposed to weight 170lbs, whoever came up with that I would like to ask why, and a max. Pilot weight of 220lbs. Since I am now in the range of 240-250 lbs. I had to start looking for an ultralight that would handle the additional weight. Being a heavier pilot should not be a reason why you should give up on flying since now there are a large number of planes that can handle the extra weight.

In 1997 I took ultralight flight instruction from Rob Rollison of Rollison Airplane Company located in Bloomfield, IN. During this time I was flying the 3-axis Flightstar II SL and was soon qualified as an UL pilot. During this time I purchased a Pioneer Flightstar single seater. This is the original design for the Flightstar line that we know today. Soon after I purchased the Flightstar IISL I trained in so I could become an instructor to share my joy in flight. In the summer of 1998 I received my rating as a ultralight Basic Flight Instructor (BFI) through the Aero Sports Connection (ASC). In the summer of 2000 I earned my rating as an Advanced Flight Instructor (AFI) and now I am able to perform the BFI check rides.

I DO RECOMMEND anyone wanting to fly Ultralights they should take dual instruction in a plane like the one they wish to be flying. With Ultralights being self regulated, the three major organizations have established a means to assist in this self regulation by registering Ultralight pilots, there aircraft and assisting through educational programs. For Ultralight pilots each offer four basic levels of certifications. First is the student, which is used while taking lessons from a Basic Flight Instructor (BFI) or an Advanced Flight Instructor (AFI), next is the Pilot (restrictions in accordance with the Ultralight regulations) followed by the BFI and then AFI. For more detail of what is required for each go to the ASC web site (areosports.org).

We are a FULL SERVICE training center.

I now offer a full line of flight training. I hold ground school classes for both the Ultralight pilot and for those wishing to become a BFI. These classes range from a 4-hour course to a 2-day seminar. For further information about the next training class please drop me an email or call. As for flight training the following are the Rates for 3-Axis Instruction:

25 for an Introductory lesson
70 an hour for flight lessons
25 per Hour for Ground School.

I have also been rated in a Trike to requalify in a Weight Shift and will begin offering lessons with your Trike. I can arrange to have one of the Powered Weight Shift (PWS) BFIs training out of Shawnee Field give you instruction in their Trike.

I also offer ground schools every 6 months or as the number of students requesting the class is large enough to accommodate having the training session. These classes are:
Ultralight Pilot - 4 hours.
Basic Flight Instructor (BFI) - 6 hours.
Fundimentals of Instruction (FOI) - 6 hours.
These classes includes the test after completion. For further information about the classes schedule and cost contact me via email or call 812-825-9425.

Let me know how you liked the site.

When I first became interested in ultralights there was little if any information available for those seeking to find out about our sport. In my struggle to find information about Ultralights on the web, I found several pages that have been very helpful and I would like to think their developers. These sites can be found in the linked page.

If interested in training drop me a note.
